West is a visiting professor at the Center for Studies of Nonlinear Science, which he founded in 1994 at the University of North Texas, and the Department of Research and Innovation at North Carolina State University. W. Alan C. Mutch is a retired professor from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, and an academic neuro anesthesiologist. He is the original developer of fractal life support devices, such as the biologically variable ventilator and cardiopulmonary bypass pump, and he has published extensively in this field.
