Multiphase Flows in Deformable Geomaterials proposes that multiscale coupling of multiphase flow and multicomponents within a deformable porous medium is complex and interdisciplinary and lacks a unified theory. Chemo-physical coupled mixture theory and non-linear thermodynamics processes can be used to derive multi-phase transport equations and mechanics. This addresses challenges in the existing multiscale coupling theory and brings together physics and chemistry within the realm of thermodynamics.
